Explore Nature And Independent Movies In Sundance Utah
Sundance is a small community in Utah located near Mt. Timpanogos. Surrounded by 6,000 acres of wildernewss, it is an attractive location for those who enjoy outdoor activities, and a friendly place for independent filmmakers who wish to participate in the Sundance Film Festival.
During the winter, ski lifts provide access to the slopes, giving skiers and snowboarders a chance to tare up the slopes. There are also cross-country trails and separate snowshoe trails.
So cross-country skiers don’t need to worry about the snow shoers ruining their trails, since the t rails are separate. Any type of fun in the snow is going to be beneficial to your health.
Cross-country skiing works the legs, as well as the arms because poles are used to push the skier up large hills. Snow shoeing works mostly the legs and buttocks. It is like walking except every step is emphasized so snow shoeing is more strenuous than walking.
Private snowshoe tours can also be scheduled at the resort. Downhill skiing and snowboarding work mainly the legs and buttocks, however, if you fall a lot you may be getting a good arm workout too.
Either way, the slopes provide a fun way to get some exercise and to explore the mountainside.
During the summer, ski lifts are transformed into scenic lift rides, which bring the beauty of nature to those who would rather ride than hike. When the summit is reached, many people like to enjoy a nice picnic at the top or they explore the beautiful mountainside.
For those who do want to hike, there are over 10 miles of alpine trails to explore, and guided hikes can be scheduled. There are also night owling guides available, just call the Sundance Resort to set up a hike.
In addition, there are over 25 miles of mountain biking trails, fly fishing areas, horseback riding opportunities, river rafting, and golfing. Hiking trails, mountain biking t rails, snowboarding and skiing trails, cross-country skiing trails, and snowshoeing tails all vary in their level of difficulty from beginning to intermediate to expert.
There are also ski lifts to mountain bike trails, so bikers can get the thrill of going down the mountain without having to endure the pain of first wheeling their bike up it. The ski lifts at Sundance open about a month earlier than they do at any other ski resort.
There are two types of tails: single track and double track. The single track trails are for the intermediate riders, and double track are made more for the less skilled beginner riders.
Either way, there is a ski lift to the top, so any bike rider is going to have an easier time than usual, because they don’t have to ride all the way to the top on their own power.
There are three major routes from the top of the moutain: Ray’s run, Scott’s Pond, and Archies Loop. Ray’s Run is basically a straight plunge down Mt. Timpanogos, but there are tons of banked turns in the tress.
Scott’s Pond Loop (which goes by Scott’s Pond) is a beautiful ride around the pond, which then connects to Rock and Roll-Boneyard or to Archies Loop.
Archies Loop is more or less a straight cruise around the mountain. It takes the rider to an breath-taking view over the North Fork’s junction with Provo Canyon.
Archies connects to Boneyard, which ends up at the road just south from the lift.
Sundance Utah is also the home of the Sundance Institute, a non-profit organization founded by Robert Redford in 1981. Independent aspiring filmmakers, directors, playwrights, producers, screenwriters, and others attend the school to improve their skills and learn more about their field.
It supports aspiring filmakers (and related professions) through various funds and The Sundance Film Festival, which is held every January. The Sundance Film Festival is an attractive event for people who enjoy the culture of independent films, and it benefits filmakers by creating a medium thorough which they can share their films.
In addition, the Film Festival is collaborating with YouTube, so select films are available for rent on the internet. This further extends the reach of the independent films, and benefits both filmakers and the people who wish to watch the films.
Whether you enjoy watching movies or exploring the beautiful wilderness, Sundance has something for everyone.
