Any Hiking Trails To Take My Dog On In Orange County Or Elsewhere In Southern California?

2

I have an active Golden Retriever and would love to take him out hiking (after he gets cleared from the vet to do so). Thanks so much!

pick up the book “Afoot & Afield in Orange County.” it lists pretty much every wilderness or natural park area in the county, along with descriptions of most of the trails that can be found in each area. before you go, make sure that dogs are permitted in the area you would like to hike in, and always keep your dog leashed and under your control. there are lots of spiky plants, mountain bikers, and other hikers on the trails here, so keep your doggy safe and keep others safe as well.

There is the John Muir Trail that goes from San Diego to the Oregon border. Go to the nearest ranger station and get a forestry map which shows all the trails in your area.
