Best Hiking Trails Near Redlands, Ca Where I Can Take My Dog Along?

1

Where are some moderate to difficult hiking trails near Redlands,CA? I need a place where I can take my dog along with me and it is either free of charge or cheap. I prefer the hiking trail be 2.5 miles to as long as 7 miles. Thanks for your help! I hope to go tomorrow.
ALSO, Im new to the area so directions would be great as well!

CE, Since you posted your question multiple times, and this copy is open, I’ll post my additional infomation here. In the question where you selected my answer, I posted these as comments, but I wasn’t sure if you’d see my comments on that copy.
Since I didn’t know how far out… and you wanted low cost, I was giving you places I believe you can hike that aren’t formal trails!
We never went on formal hiking trails, but if you go N from San Bernardino, up 330 thru Running springs to the road along the north side of Big Bear, there’s great hiking near Wilbur’s Grave. We used to hike with our children up to Wilbur’s Grave regularly. NO cost. Just need map to know where fire roads are. Not a formal “hiking trail” but we loved this area.
If you get DeLorme’s SA2009 Plus or Topo 7 with PN-20 [or LT-40 if PN is too expensive], you should be able to see all the fire roads to not get lost. Lots of places to hike up there… near Fawnskin… and the east end of the lake.http://www.city-data.com/city/Big-Bear-C… – GREAT hiking area – drive in part way… park and hike
See if you can get a map of the forest roads – this website shows cemetary (1) is Wilbur’s Grave http://www.trails.com/city-trails.asp?ke… – - is a website that gives you formal trails near Redlands
We never went to formal hiking trails. We even found some place out near Beaumont where we could get off the freeway, take a side road, and actually get off the road and do some off road driving in our Jeep. If you go out I-10 to the desert areas, it’s easy to get off the road and hike around. We’d take our kids, find a place that “looked good” and park and hike.
If you go to Mentone Beach, it actually exists. It is a local joke that became known world wide because some jokster made up T-shirts to memorialize this little strip of “beach” along the river. People came from Mentone Beach, Australia to see their “sister beach”… it was hysterically funny… such big hype for a teeny tiny little strip of sand along the Santa Ana river bed
Below are mapshares from my SA2009 Plus for you to see some of the places we hiked. I still have to look at my topo 7 to see if it shows Wilbur’s grave. If you’re a serious hiker, you might wish to consider getting Topo 7 and a PN-20 gps that’s fantastic for serious hikers.
