How Should I Prepare For An Alaskan Cruise In June?

4

As my question suggests, I’ll be going on an Alaskan cruise via Princess Cruises in mid-June. I’m just curious as to what I should pack for this type of cruise because it’s not the run-of-the-mill, warm-weather-type cruise. Should I bring outdoorsy gear for the shore excursions (hiking boots, hat & gloves, fleece jacket, etc.)? And how formal should the formal wear be (cocktail vs. black-tie)?
This is also my first-ever cruise as well, so any other helpful suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Set your DVR/TiVo for the Travel channel. They run a cruise special I *think* its the Raddiance of the Seas (the alaskan cruise).
It’s an hour long, and it shows from beginning to end (with port of calls) all about the cruise. From the passengers POV, to the workers in the kitchen.
    Pretty cool!
    Have a great time!!!

I went on an Alaskan cruise in 2005. In May and June it is actually pretty warm. I would Suggest bringing shorts and T-shirts but I would also bring some warmer clothes. Bring a poncho because it sometimes rains for a long time, and bring some very nice clothes for the formal dinner. I would also bring some clothes to swim in. Ther will be some snow up high in the mountains, but it will be a lot cooler than you think.

The weather will range from downright chilly (but never freezing) to downright hot! Layers, layers, layers.
