What Are Some Good Hiking Trails Close To New York City?
I’m a relatively beginner hiker. I’m looking for a nice hiking trail to go on with my uncle (who’s experienced). Preferably, within 300 miles of New York City and with a camping ground. Any recommendations? P.S. I’ve already been to the Catskills.

There are so many wonderful trails within 300 miles of NYC that it would take too long to list. However, the best place to start is with the Appalachian trail. The trail runs from Mount Katahdin in Northern Maine to Springer Mountain in Georgia and offers “paths” that range from very difficult to easy. The site below has all the information you need. You might also look into the many trails running through the Adirondack mountains (2nd site below) as well as the relatively easy trails through Acadia National Park in Maine (3rd site below). Enjoy!
I think the best place to hike is near Cold Spring, NY, Hudson Highlands Park. Breakneck Ridge is a great hike.

Just take 9D north of Cold Spring, and park just past the overpass. Start at Breakneck Point and climb your way up. I would suggest following the white trail markers out and follow the yellow trail markers back over Sugerloaf mountain.
Try the “Stairway to Heaven” in New Jerseyhttp://www.purdes.com/njhiking/stairway/…http://www.localhikes.com/Hikes/Stairway…
Harriman State Park has some nice day-hikes, less than an hour from NYC. Catskills are good. Or you could go further to the Adirondacks or White Mountains in New Hampshire.
Montauk, Long Island, offers interesting trails next to the Atlantic Ocean.
Upstate New York has tons a great place to hike and not that from the City of New York.
